Living Labs

The EnergyBuilder project builds on well-established living labs and a robust technological infrastructure developed by the partners in previous projects. While earlier projects primarily focused on creating the necessary infrastructure for monitoring individual buildings using IoT sensors and advanced visualization technologies, this project aims to extend those capabilities by developing new Digital Twin and AI-based energy management systems. These systems will optimize energy use at both the individual building level and across groups of buildings through energy sharing, while also enabling seamless integration into the broader energy system. Although the existing technological foundation is mature enough to support experimental living labs, the new technology developments will start at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 and are expected to reach TRL 5 by the project’s conclusion.
